Scanning Tips
Follow these tips for the best scan results
Good Lighting is Key
Make sure the barcode is well-lit. Avoid shadows or direct glare. Natural light or a bright indoor light works best.
Hold 4-8 Inches Away
Too close or too far makes it hard to focus. Aim for about the distance you'd hold a book to read it.
Keep It Flat & Straight
Hold the product so the barcode is flat — not curved or wrinkled. Point your camera directly at it, not at an angle.
Hold Steady
Keep your hand still for a second while it scans. Even slight movement can blur the barcode and prevent a read.
Fill the Frame
Center the barcode inside the scanning box. Make sure the full barcode — including the edges — is visible.
Avoid Reflective Surfaces
Shiny packaging or plastic wrap can cause glare. Try tilting the product slightly to reduce reflection.
Can't Scan? Type It!
The barcode number is printed below the bars. You can type it directly into the Barcode field on the Scan tab.
Scan Not Working?
Point your camera at the ingredients label and tap the capture button — the app will extract the ingredients automatically.
Still having trouble?
Type the barcode number manually or paste the ingredients list directly — both work just as well!
